We spent 6 months renovating this home and now it’s time to party. Slow your roll! since this is a vacation home in another state I guess we do have to hire someone to oversee the property while we are away. I would hate to come back and have 2 feet of water on the new floors. Oh, yep forgot about the security system, trash pickup, water, electricity, and landscaping that needs to be paid EVERY month. Ummmmmmmm…..and what do we do about internet and cable???? Ugh……really?

Prior to deciding on a contractor we followed some tried and trusted sources that helped us find the "right" contractor to get the job done.
Some tips for finding a contractor:
1. Get a referral. Since we are not from Fort Myers we asked our real estate agent for a referral. I also contacted the Southwest Florida Real Estate Investment Group for referrals. Bottom line, shop around.
2. Get at least three bids.
3. Check to make sure they are licensed.
4. Check the Better Business Bureau to make sure there are no compliants against them.
5. Meet the contractor in person.
6. Check references.
7. Go with your gut, if it doesn't feel right don't hire them.Do you have any tips for finding the "right" contractor?

That’s one of the reasons why we don’;t have one (smile). Money is the first reason!
Yep, lots of extra costs that add up. You sometimes forget the typical household functions that you need to take care of like a security system.
Yep! It’s funny to think about. It’s what they say, the devil is in the details. Or It’s easy to start something BUT how hard is it to mantain it!
