Thanks Sylvia! this was the project of the century. I had a great time working on the house even with the budget blasting upgrades. I cannot wait for you to see it as you had a hand in picking out the finishings and fixtures. Thanks for contributing to the effort and I really liked your suggestions.

Renovation Project Management
Prior to deciding on a contractor we followed some tried and trusted sources that helped us find the "right" contractor to get the job done.
Some tips for finding a contractor:
1. Get a referral. Since we are not from Fort Myers we asked our real estate agent for a referral. I also contacted the Southwest Florida Real Estate Investment Group for referrals. Bottom line, shop around.
2. Get at least three bids.
3. Check to make sure they are licensed.
4. Check the Better Business Bureau to make sure there are no compliants against them.
5. Meet the contractor in person.
6. Check references.
7. Go with your gut, if it doesn't feel right don't hire them.
Do you have any tips for finding the "right" contractor?
